Facilities at Camp at the Eastward

Camp at the Eastward (CATE), the youth ministry of Mission at the Eastward (MATE), is not too far away but a secluded and peaceful setting on 59 wooded acres off Sawyers Mills Road in Starks,Maine. Outside of the summer camp weeks, the facilities are available for rent throughout the year.

The ten cabins in the woods are available in fair weather when CATE’s summer camp is not in session. These cabins sleep from two to twelve in bunk beds. Overnight facilities can accommodate approximately 50 – 60 individuals. Our cabins are seasonal use only with no heat in any of our cabins and no electricity except for the First Aid and Directors Cabins.

The Lodge with a well equipped kitchen and 1800 sq. ft. dining space can be used year round. These accommodations are excellent for all types of events: trainings, retreats, wedding receptions, reunions, etc.

Other facilities include Chapel in the Woods; Campfire Circle; an Arts & Crafts building with electricity; Recreation Building with ping pong, games and recreational equipment; Bathhouse with toilets and showers; First Aid building; and spacious fields.

Our Adventure/Challenge Course is a popular part of the summer camp program, building community and teamwork through experiential learning. Six low elements, four high elements, games and initiatives are also available to outside groups. If your group is interested in one of our pre-planned programs or in designing a program to meet your group’s needs, contact us.
